OCLC New FirstSearch Expected in August

OCLC New FirstSearch service is expected to be released in August with new features that will help users more easily find and retrieve information. Schedules for the implementation of features and databases are now available at to help libraries plan their full migration to the new service. During the coming months these schedules will be updated as new information about feature and database availability is released.

SilverPlatter Announces New Databases

SilverPlatter Information has announced the availability of two new products: The Philosopher's Index and Books in Print with Book Reviews.
  • The Philosopher's Index is a bibliographic database with author abstracts covering scholarly research in the 15 fields of philosophy, published in journals and books since 1940. SilverPlatter is currently the only supplier of this database in electronic format. BCR's price is $1,455 for a 1-4 user license for the web-based database. A discount is available for users migrating from Dialog OnDisc.

  • Books in Print with Book Reviews (BOIR-MO-79 and BOIR-MO-SB) has been released. This database offers the entire Books in Print family, plus full-text reviews from three leading book reviewers. The price is not yet available.
